English Literature has been able to reinvent itself along new pathways, from the age of the manuscript to the digital era. In the last decades, the digital technology has changed the paradigms involving both the reading strategies and the analysis of literary texts: among others, the relation between writer and reader; the publication in digital platforms; distant reading; the exploration of the image; the abundance of information; the access to the original texts. This enormous change has originated an interdisciplinary reevaluation of many of the previous paths, as well as the launching of new focuses of reflection.

Which perspectives on this new pathways can therefore be built? Which new pathways can be proposed? How are those perspectives articulated with the present transformational demands of Literature into a phenomenology of experience?
The conference, organised with plenary sessions, thematic panels, discussion panels and exploratory discussions, welcomes new approaches within the literary studies, according to four large thematic areas:

• Interdisciplinary Crossways in Medieval Literature: Text and Image
• The Renaissance: a Bridge between Two Worlds
• Defining Modernity: from the Restoration through Romanticism
• Reconsidering Modernism and Postmodernism

A Literatura Inglesa tem sabido reinventar-se em novos percursos, desde a época do manuscrito até à era do digital. Nas últimas décadas, a tecnologia digital veio alterar os paradigmas, a nível das estratégias de leitura e de análise dos textos literários: a relação entre escritor e leitor; a publicação em ambiente virtual; a leitura à distância; a exploração da imagem; a abundância de informação; o acesso aos textos originais, entre outros. Uma tão grande alteração tem vindo a originar a reavaliação interdisciplinar de muitos dos caminhos percorridos anteriormente e o lançamento de novos focos de reflexão.

Que perspectivas podem então construir-se sobre tais percursos? Que novos caminhos podem ser propostos? Como se coadunam essas perspectivas com as exigências actuais de transformação da Literatura em fenomenologia da experiência?
Organizado em sessões plenárias, painéis temáticos, painéis de discussão e discussões exploratórias, este encontro acolhe novas perspectivas no âmbito dos estudos literários, organizando-se em quatro grandes áreas temáticas:

• Cruzamentos Interdisciplinares na Literatura Medieval: Texto e Imagem
• Renascimento: uma Ponte entre Dois Mundos
• Definindo a Modernidade: da Restauração ao Romantismo
• Modernismo e Pós-Modernismo: uma reapreciação
